Sony slashes $100 off the Xperia XZ Premium

Sony just made its high-end Xperia XZ Premium even more appealing with a $100 price cut in the United States. The handset is still more expensive than most, but it does offer features you won’t find elsewhere, including a super-sharp 4K display and slow-motion video recording at 960fps.

The Xperia XZ Premium was designed to wow us, but its expensive features make rival handsets more accessible to most. The likes of the Galaxy S8 and the LG G6 are pricey, but they’re still more affordable than Sony’s signature smartphone. What’s more, those devices can be purchased from a carrier at a subsidized rate, whereas Sony’s cannot.

To make the Xperia XZ Premium slightly easier to obtain, Sony has slashed $100 off the device when you buy an unlocked model in the U.S. That reduces its price tag to $699.99 on Amazon, Best Buy, and B&H Photo, which puts the device in the same ball park as the rivals mentioned above.

For your money, you’re getting Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 835 processor, 4GB of RAM, 64GB of internal storage, and that 5.5-inch 4K display. You’ll also enjoy Sony’s new 19-megapixel Exmor RS camera sensor with super slow-motion video recording at 960 frames-per-second, and Android 7.1 Nougat.

Bear in mind, however, that the unlocked Xperia XZ Premium is only compatible with AT&T and T-Mobile in the U.S.
